Since opening in 1991, Crystal Jade is one of Singapore's most successful chain of restaurants, serving predominantly Cantonese dishes, and also branching out to Korean and Hong Kong cafe delicacies in recent years.
One of its flagship restaurant, the Crystal Jade Palace Restaurant, is located at Ngee Ann City Level 4.
Was puzzled by why the restaurant serves a cold portion of french beans + tau kwa fried with XO sauce as appetizer. Shouldn't this be pipping hot?
The top of the restaurant is lined by beautiful crystals in shades of red and white. Looks really amazing from the inside.
A must order at any Crystal Jade restaurant - Crispy roasted pork. Crackling skin with juicy pork meat.
Steamed bamboo clams with garlic and spring onions with superior soya sauce. Clams is very fresh and sweet.
Seafood lotus leave rice. I specially took this photo because the rice is shiny and each grain of rice is coated with the savoury seasoning. Full of seafood too.
Here is the lotus leaf which is used to wrap the rice. The Chinese believes that lotus leaves helps to give extra fragrance when used to cook and "stew" the rice.
Mild XO sauce (special request) with Asparagus and fish slices - great with rice. But we are a bit too full to enjoy this dish.
Do try out the Ngee Ann City's Crystal Jade Palace. Service is great, and food is consistent.
