Magosaburou @ ION Orchard
Magosaburou, one of the higher end Japanese BBQ restaurant in Japan, has opened its first Singapore outpost at ION Orchard last year. The restaurant has 2 entrances, one from Level 4 inside the mall, where diners will have to climb up the stairs to access the main dining hall. Another is the carpark entrance (I am guessing it's Level 5).
Once you reach the main hall, you will be amazed at how spacious and beautiful the entire restaurant is. The view from the top floor of ION Orchard is quite nice, especially during the Christmas lightup.
As their specialty is grilled beef, we ordered some top grade Wagyu beef 熊本產高級黑毛和牛"黑樺牛": Sirloin steak 120g (S$55) and Special Prime short rib 100g (S$38). They were beautifully presented to us before being grilled.
Some dips and salt to accompany the grilled meats.
Cold Japanese Tea (S$3 per glass)
We like the design of their gas grill. It was smokeless and odourless, and your clothes will not smell even after staying here for more than 1 hour. For diners who are lazy to do it yourself, you can ask their staff to help you grill the premium beef for you. However, we noticed some diners prefer to do it themselves.
The sirloin and short ribs were excellent. They had wonderful marbling of fats, and each bite was full of flavours. Totally worth the price tag.
We also ordered the Hitsumabushi Hot Stone (S$18) to enjoy the slightly toasted rice. The dish looks more Korean than Japanese.
Also enojoyed the yummy Yanagawa Style Beef (S$18). It's a comfort dish with the creamy eggs and tender juicy beef slices.
Grapefruit Jelly (S$10) - A very unique dessert. The flesh of the grapefruit jelly is first removed, and replaced with chilled grapefruit juice jelly.
Green Tea Creme Brulee (S$12) - Creamy and not too sweet.
I think not many diners know about this restaurant yet, and it's really a pity. With such a good location and excellent quality meat, we hope business here can improve.
